wow i totally missed the rest of the convo.

i can see how this will be time consuming to add. with every forum having different smilies, then u have to shrink the smilies to a proportionate size based on the original smiley. yikes!!!!!!

No smilies please, those are for full web browser and not for mobile platform etc :)

    1. Read my postings then you know why I NEED smilies.
    2. I made the suggestion to switch smilies on/off via prefs. So everybody can be happy.

Btw: What's the real problem? TouchBB can handle the smilies very well...

yeah i dont get the no smilies comment at all.

heck i want the ability to use iphone smilies. i can be done because brightkite shows iphone smilies on their website.

Ah sorry - perhaps a bit hasty...

Some customers will like smilies, others will not. Personally I would not not use them or want them.

But as has already been said, if you have the option to turn them on/off then everyone will be happy :)

I hope we can also get the smilies supported very soon, the underlying problem is the current code was not designed for displaying smilies easily - and is due for a revamp, as soon as we rewrite that part of code we will immediately look into how we can include this too.

I'm running phpbb3 and also don't see any emoticons. :(

Not sure about how VBulletin handles emoticons, but with php the text equivalent which is stored in the alt tag would be nice to see

    Code:
    <img src="./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" />
or even something taken from the title tag like ::Wink:: (maybe even in a different color!)

Not supported by the software for the moment.
See the post above wrote by Winter ;)

not sure if i mentioned this in a previous post but a site called brightkite has found a way to support iphone smilies on a pc's web browser.

so it would be nice to be able to use the iphone's emojis along with the smilies of the board.

Heck yeah, it should at least display the code/alt tag for the smiley. Smilies say a lot on my forum. I'm definitely looking forward to the code rewrite :D

Next phpBB plugin release will contain text-based smiley like in vBulletin. Work is underway for the thread viewing screen revamp (which seems to take forever)

I have the same problem. In our card forum we use smilies to display cards. For example :Ad: is a small image of Ace of diamonds. Tapatalk doesn't display these images. Is there a solution for this problem?
